“I HATE MEN SO MUCH TOO, AND SEE HOW I THINK AMERICA IS EVIL WITH THEIR CORPORATE CAPITALISM, OSAMA BIN LADEN WAS SO RIGHT, PLEASE GIRLS JUST LET ME PISS IN YOUR MOUTHS A LITTLE BIT YOU DON’T EVEN HAVE TO SWALLOW IT JUST GARGLE IT FOR TWO SECONDS” - tatsuya ishida
se: more than ever before, sinfest is crying out for an edit. this might be one of his worst strips yet.
I have literally seen 13 year olds make subtler political statements than that strip. Is there some sort of lobotomy operation that cuts out the part of the brain that thinks its clever while leaving the part that can draw intact?
In the world of amateur storytelling art, it’s so rare for someone to possess both the means and creative talent. The huge majority of webcomic artists can either write or draw but never both (sometimes not even one).
When I was taking film classes, you would always have the rich kids in the class who owned all the good equipment (“What’s that, son? You need a $6000 camera and $3000 steady cam mount? Of course my dealership will cover it!”) and could pay all the production costs, and then you had the broke kids who were very creative and talented. Of course everyone had to go along with what the rich kid wanted to do since he controlled the means of production, and of course he always thought himself a genius so only his shit ever got made. So you had the rich kids doing nothing but straight Tarantino scene ripoffs because they were creatively bankrupt with huge egos that refused to accept they weren’t creative geniuses.
That explains most comics in a nutshell. Except for Penny Arcade, which manages to still be terrible despite dividing it between an artist and dedicated “writer”.
That film class bit is the most truest part.
